You can
win a free copy of Susan Meissner's books,
The Shape of Mercy, on Paper Bridges, a blog by Monica Brand. My writing friend,
D'Ann Mateer said this book is amazing. In fact, D'Ann was sent an ARC, and she loved it so much that she bought another copy (after reading it!). That's a serious endorsement.

A writer talks about writing, publishing, and success. Though she has two books on the NYT bestseller's list, she continues to challenge herself. Good perspective.

This looks really good (and has a great cast). Looks like it doesn't handle issues of faith lightly.
See the trailer for Doubt.

This one looks more about the nuts and bolts of actually making money with your art (gasp--how will we be starving artists, then?). How to market, balancing marketing and artisting (I made that word up), that kind of stuff. And you don't have to go anywhere, so it's cheaper than attending a conference.

Lakewood Church in the Houston area is having an arts and faith conference called Breathe. Looks like some cool people will be there--collection of practicing artists and art pastors. The best part is the price--very affordable. If I weren't out of town for the three weekends preceding it, I'd be there.
For more info, you can visit
the website.

Soul Food movies blog posted a list of
movies with the "Best Representations of faith." The list was compiled by the
Art Within gang. It's a good list. I think I might add Heroes to it and Chocolat. Also WALL-E and maybe Evan Almighty. And the first episode from Battlestar Galactica (the new one).
What movies would you add? (Or are there any you'd take off?)

My new rockin' Jersey writer blogging friend (how many qualifiers can I give the woman?) has a book contest on her blog. The book looks intriguing. From the back cover:

Celtic Christians had a name for the Holy Spirit -An Geadh-Glas, or ‘the Wild Goose.’ The name hints at mystery. Much like a wild goose, the Spirit of God cannot be tracked or tamed. An element of danger, an air of unpredictability surround Him. And while the n…
